What we’ve been working on this week around Holyport, Taplow and Bracknell
Last week at JTH Electrics was a good example of the variety of work we carry out across domestic properties locally. From new supplies to outbuildings, to discreet power installations in kitchens, through to detailed fault finding following a consumer unit upgrade, each job required careful planning, testing, and a professional approach.
Supplying power to garden workshops
We completed a new electrical supply to a garden workshop in Holyport. The key requirement was routing the cable neatly and safely from the main installation, through the garage loft space, and along the garden boundary without it being intrusive.
Where external or outbuilding supplies are involved, correct cable selection, mechanical protection, and appropriate isolation are essential. These installations are designed to be safe, robust, and compliant, while keeping the visual impact to a minimum. The customer was pleased with the finished result and the functionality of the new supply.
New supply for an AGA oven – with no cables on show
In
Taplow, we ran a new dedicated supply for an AGA oven. The main challenge was cable routing from the consumer unit, under the floor, and behind existing kitchen units to an isolator located neatly inside a cupboard.
By carefully planning the route, the work was completed without visible cabling and without the need for follow-on repairs. The end result was a clean installation that met both practical and aesthetic expectations.
Fault finding after a consumer unit upgrade
We also carried out fault finding at a property in Bracknell following a recent consumer unit upgrade. An RCD was tripping intermittently after the new installation.
Systematic testing confirmed the issue occurred when the boiler was switched on. Further tests identified a neutral-to-earth leakage within the boiler appliance itself. Modern protective devices are more sensitive, which can reveal existing faults that were previously undetected.
Why professional testing matters
Many electrical issues are not visible and only become apparent through proper testing. Whether it’s a new supply, a high-load appliance, or a nuisance tripping issue, diagnosis should always be carried out methodically by a qualified electrician using calibrated test equipment.
All work is tested and certified as required, giving homeowners confidence that their installation is safe and compliant.
