Domestic Service Addendum – JTH Electrics

This Addendum supplements the JTH Electrics Terms of Engagement and applies specifically to contracts entered into with ‘Consumers’ (homeowners or tenants) at their home.

1. YOUR RIGHT TO CANCEL (The 14-Day Cooling-Off Period)

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The cancellation period will expire 14 days from the day you accept our estimate or proposal. To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision by a clear statement (e.g., a letter sent by post or email).

2. REQUEST TO START WORK IMMEDIATELY

If you would like JTH Electrics to start the work before the 14-day cancellation period has ended, you must provide an express request.

IMPORTANT: If you request us to begin the performance of services during the cancellation period, you shall pay us an amount which is in proportion to what has been performed until you have communicated your cancellation. If the service is fully completed within the 14 days at your request, you lose the right to cancel.

3. PRE-EXISTING DEFECTS & EXTERNAL FACTORS

JTH Electrics will not be held liable for any pre-existing faults or defects in your electrical installation that are discovered during the course of the agreed work. Any additional work required to rectify such faults to meet safety standards (BS7671) will be quoted for separately.

4. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

We are not liable for any ‘consequential loss’ or indirect losses, including but not limited to loss of business, loss of data, or loss of income, even if such loss was reasonably foreseeable.

5. WASTE DISPOSAL

Unless specifically stated in the estimate, JTH Electrics will remove small offcuts and packaging related to the work. We do not provide a general waste removal service for large debris, old consumer units (where heavy), or rubble, which remains the responsibility of the customer.

6. ACCESS AND PREPARATION

The customer is responsible for ensuring clear and safe access to the work area. This includes moving furniture, lifted floorboards (where not part of the quote), and securing pets/children. JTH Electrics is not liable for minor damage to decor necessitated by the work (e.g., drilling or lifting boards) unless caused by negligence.
