Its been a busy week for JTH Electrics

What we’ve been working on this week across the local area

As Christmas approaches, demand for electrical work always increases, and last week was no exception. We carried out a wide range of domestic and small commercial work, from maintenance and safety improvements through to ongoing larger projects, with many customers keen to have things completed before Christmas.

Here are some of the main themes from the week.

Electrical maintenance and safety upgrades at local dog kennels

We carried out electrical work at a local dog kennels, replacing a number of failed light fittings to restore safe and reliable lighting throughout the premises. While on site, we also relocated sockets within the laundry room to improve usability and safety.

During the works, we identified a small sub-consumer unit showing clear signs of overheating. Given the potential risks associated with overheating electrical equipment, the decision was made to replace the unit. This ensured the installation could continue operating safely and reliably.

Electrical inspections across multiple blocks of flats

We also completed Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) across five blocks of flats. Large inspection programmes like this require careful planning and consistent testing to ensure each installation is assessed accurately and fairly.

EICRs are an essential part of electrical safety, particularly in multi-occupancy buildings, helping to identify deterioration, damage, or non-compliant work before it becomes a serious issue.

Lighting upgrades and small improvement works

Throughout the week, we carried out a variety of lighting works, including:

  • Replacing failed downlights

  • Installing new external lights on a shed

  • Running a new lighting feed for a wardrobe that is due to be extended

We also helped several local customers with smaller but important jobs, such as removing a broken bulb from an oven and repairing cabinet lighting. These are the types of issues that are frustrating for homeowners and often best dealt with quickly and professionally.

Ongoing projects and second fix work

Progress continued on a large rewire project now that access is available to all rooms. With full access, work can move forward more efficiently while ensuring the installation meets current standards throughout.

We also completed the second fix stage of a kitchen installation, bringing the electrical work closer to completion and ready for final use.

Team progress and customer work

Harry and Joe completed further electrical work for a builder we are currently supporting, while we also installed new floodlighting for a long-standing customer. These repeat customers and ongoing trade relationships are built on consistent workmanship and trust.

A busy run-up to Christmas

It’s clear that many homeowners and businesses want electrical work completed before Christmas, whether that’s safety-related, practical improvements, or finishing off ongoing projects.

If you’re based in Maidenhead or the surrounding areas and need electrical work carried out — from inspections and upgrades to fault finding and lighting — JTH Electrics is happy to help.
